Attributed to Christopher Dresser (1834-1904), a Benham & Froud brass jug Design registered 1885, manufacturer's stamped mark and registration no. 36698 With tapered spout and hinged lid with a plain finial, the overhead handle with scroll terminals, on a circular spreading foot 31.5cm high Literature: Harry Lyons, Christopher Dresser: The People's Designer 1834-1904, Antique Collectors' Club, 2005, p.213, pl.420 (similar form illustrated but with slight variation to banding and finial) Indentation on one side on the central horizontal band and to shoulder below the spout. Partial age separation to the outer band on the foot. Old marks and general wear with some tarnishing to surfaces. The interior appears to have some form coating on it, looks the colour of zinc/white metal.
