AN EARLY GEORGE III SILVER TANKARD, by William Shaw & William Priest, London 1760, baluster form, with fine later chasing to depict a tavern scene of five figures gaming at a table within a cartouche of C-scrolls, further chased with flowers and foliage, engraved inscription to base 'The Bath and West of England Agricultural Society to Mr John Nicholls for exhibiting the best fat cow awarded at the Annual Meeting 1825'. 15.5cm high, 18.2 troy ounces The absence of a Condition Report does not imply that a lot is without imperfections. Please note carefully the exclusion of liability for the condition of lots contained in the Conditions of Sale. Marks to base are clear and well spaces. The engraved inscription runs around the underside of the foot. No further engraving. The chasing wonderfully full-bodied and crisp. In generally very good condition commensurate with age.
