A FINE LATE 18TH CENTURY GEORGE III MAHOGANY AND BRASS MOUNTED TABLE / BRACKET CLOCK WITH PULL REPEAT SIGNED JOHN LAMBERT, LONDON, CIRCA 1770, the case with inverted bell top surmounted by a brass handle and flanked by four acorn finials, on a plinth base with brass bracket feet, the break-arch door with gilt brass Rococo style pierced quadrants, opening to the brass dial with Rococo pierced gilt spandrels, with silvered Roman chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, the gilt matted centre with silvered name plate signed 'Jn Lambert London', with chamfered date aperture below, with subsidiary Strike / Silent dial to the arch also with gilt matted centre, the twin fusee movement with original verge escapement striking the half hour and hours on a bell, the pendulum with pear shaped bob, the backplate finely engraved wit flowers and foliage, with pull cord repeat, with two case keys and winder, 51cm high with handle up Provenance: Private London Collection. Purchased by the current owner from W.F. Turk in 2008. The clock is in wonderful condition and is currently ticking and striking and the pull repeat is working. John Lambert is recorded in G.H. Baillie as working in Shug Lane, London in 1784. Another bracket clock by John Lambert was sold at Bonhams, London, 28 June 2011, lot 145.
