SORCIERES AU SABBAT, c.1910, a rare set of ten French photographic postcards depicting a group of naked young witches setting off to a Sabbath on broomsticks where they finally meet the devil (10) The Witches' Sabbath is a meeting of those who practice witchcraft and other rites. Distinguishable features that are typically contained within a Witches' Sabbat are assembly by foot, beast, or flight, a banquet, dancing and cavorting, and sexual intercourse. A similar set to this was sold in the Out of the Ordinary sale on 12 February 2019, lot 86 sold £2,100. Condition report: Near mint condition, unused, no damage.
