Exceptionnelle paire de coupe lotus en verre bleu et blanc de Pékin/ Rare Beijing Blue and white glass lotus cup. H. 9,8 cm Diam.16,3 cm. Deux socles en bois sont joints. Note de provenance : Ces coupes appartenaient à Lady Celia Brunel Noble (1872-1962), petite-fille du célèbre ingénieur britannique Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Elles lui ont été offertes en 1945 par la reine Mary de Teck (1867-1953/ grand-mère de l'actuelle reine Elisabeth) lorsqu'elle était venue lui rendre visite à Bath (Royaume-Uni). Les coupes ont ensuite été remises à sa fille Lady Cynthia Gladwyn, épouse de l'ambassadeur de Grande Bretagne à Paris dans les années 50, Lord Gladwyn, puis transmises à leur fille qui avait assisté à la remise du cadeau de la reine Mary à sa grand-mère Celia en 1945, à l’âge de 12 ans. / These vases belonged to Lady Celia Brunel Noble who was the granddaughter of the famous British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They were given to her in 1945 by Queen Mary de Teck (grandmother to the current queen Elisabeth) when she came to visit her in Bath (UK). The cups were then given to her daughter Lady Cynthia Gladwyn, wife of the British ambassador in Paris in the 50ties, Lord Gladwyn, and then passed down to her daughter who actually witnessed queen Mary offering the gift to her grandmother Celia in 1945, when she herself was 12 years old.
