A large Japanese Arita Imari vase with flared neck and scalloped rim, painted in the typical palette of underglaze blue and polychrome enamels with gilt highlights, the shaped panels filled with birds amongst flowering branches reserved on a foliate design red ground, the base with six-character makers mark 'Hichozan Shinpo Sei' associated with the merchant Tashiro Monzaemon, Meiji period (1868-1912) 63.5 cm high
