A set of eight Victorian Irish silver poultry skewers, maker's mark II (not traced), Dublin 1867, engraved with the crest of the WINGFIELD family Viscounts Powerscourt of the Irish peerage, 19.5cm (7 3/4in) long; together with two similar examples, stamped GM only, 170g (5.5 oz) gross Mervyn Edward WINGFIELD (1836-1904) 7th Viscount Powerscourt who in 1864 married Lady Julia COKE, the daughter of Thomas COKE (1822-1909) 2nd Earl of Leicester. In 1885 the 7th Viscount was created Baron Powerscourt of the peerage of the UK, allowing him to sit in the House of Lords Condition Report: Blazon of crest: a demi eagle, wings expanded argent, looking at the sun in his glory Coronet: A Viscount Richard WINGFIELD (1815-1844) 6th Viscount Powerscourt in 1836 married Lady Elizabeth Frances Charlotte JOCELYN daughter of Robert JOCELYN (1788-1870) 3rd Earl Jocelyn of Roden. Their son and heir was Mervyn Edward WINGFIELD (1836-1904) 7th Viscount Powerscourt who in 1864 married Lady Julia COKE daughter of Thomas COKE (1822-1909) 2nd Earl of Leicester.
