17th/18th century The confronted birds delicately carved recumbent beside a gnarled branch bearing two ripe peaches, one bird with the head turned on its back and feet neatly tucked beneath the body, the other resting one foot on the larger peach, their plumage picked out with finely-incised feathers, the stone of white tone with cloudy and russet inclusions. 10cm (4in) long.
