One by Katsuo, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century The first a rakan (disciple of Buddha), standing with a severe expression, his robes loosely wrapped around his body, his right shoulder left bare, unsigned, 2cm (13/16in) high; the second a sarumawashi (monkey trainer), kneeling and holding a staff, his other hand grasping a bundle tied around his shoulders, the monkey perched on his left shoulder, signed Katsuo, 1.7cm (11/16in) high.
