19th century The animal skilfully carved recumbent with its legs tucked under its body, turning its head sharply to gently rest on its rounded back, its hind hooves tucked beneath its body, the bushy tail and mane finely detailed with incisions, the tail rendered swept to the side, the stone of pale green colour with beige and cloudy inclusions, wood stand. 23cm (9in) long.
