Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A pair of Chinese doucai porcelain dishes, 18th century, each painted to the interior with a central medallion depicting a deer below a monkey on a pine tree, surrounded by bees and a pair of magpies in flight, all encircled by the 'three friends of winter', the exterior is painted bamboo and the base bears an apocryphal Chenghua, 20.5cm diameter (2) Note: Virtual puns are very popular in Chinese art and often made by using homophones. Here, monkey, bees, magpie and deer are combined to convey the pun 'giving great wealth and bestowing a noble title' (jue lu feng hou). 品相報告 Condition Report: One dish with a few chips to the foot rim, one re-stuck. The other dish with scratches/discolorations to the base. Both dishes with wear and surface scratches. Please contact the department for additional condition images.
