A pair of Chinese porcelain 'Wu Shuang Pu' vases, 19th century, each painted in famille verte enamels with four figures from the 'Table of Peerless Heroes', including Dong Xian, Hua Mu Lan, Yue Fei and Guo Zi Yi, with bands of butterflies hovering amongst flowering peony and chrysanthemum blossoms, 33.3cm high (2) Note: The Wu Shuang Pu 無雙譜 ('Table of Peerless Heroes') is a series of woodblock prints created by Jin Guliang ca. 1670. The album contains forty illustrations of forty famous historical figures from the Han dynasty to the Song dynasty, described by Jin as being 'peerless'. The figures on these vases are copied from Jin Guliang's prints, and include the Han dynasty politician Dong Xian (23-1 BC), the legendary female warrior Hua Mulan (ca. 400-500), the famous Song dynasty general Yue Fei (1103-1142), and Guo Zi Yi (697-781), the general who ended the An Shi Rebellion and was immortalised in Chinese mythology as the God of Wealth and Happiness. 品相報告 Condition Report: One of the vases has some grazes and nibbles to the corners and edges of the vases, some scratches to the glaze in areas.
