A heavy German or Austrian broadsword, circa 1650 Broad double-edged blade of lenticular cross section, the upper half with minor remnants of decorative floral etching. Iron knuckle-bow hilt, the large obverse guard plate with cut double-headed eagle, the breast shield with engraved inscription "RKM". On the reverse smaller shell guard with thumb ring. Helically grooved grip, wire wrap missing. Lavishly cut iron pommel with portrait busts and mascarons.Length 101.5 cm.Condition: II
