A PAIR OF CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL AND GILT BRONZE ‘RAM’ PAPER WEIGHTS. Ming Dynasty, 17th Century. Each creature naturalistically modelled seated with the legs tucked beneath with the tail curved round to the left and the head partially cocked with curling horns and a beard and a reflective expression on the face, the fur picked out in gilt bronze cloisons against a white ground, other details picked out in red and blue enamels, each with a carved fitted wood stand, 7.5cm long. (4) Provenance: from the collection of James Kilpatrick Hutton (1870 – 1953), thence by descent to the present owner.
