Description

A PAIR OF CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL AND GILT BRONZE ‘RAM’ PAPER WEIGHTS. Ming Dynasty, 17th Century. Each creature naturalistically modelled seated with the legs tucked beneath with the tail curved round to the left and the head partially cocked with curling horns and a beard and a reflective expression on the face, the fur picked out in gilt bronze cloisons against a white ground, other details picked out in red and blue enamels, each with a carved fitted wood stand, 7.5cm long. (4) Provenance: from the collection of James Kilpatrick Hutton (1870 – 1953), thence by descent to the present owner. Born in India, Kilpatrick Hutton spent time in Tianjin and Shanghai in the first half of the 20th Century, as well as Japan and Indonesia. 明十七世紀 銅胎掐絲琺瑯羊形鎮紙連木座一對 來源:詹姆斯·基爾帕特里克·赫頓 (1870 – 1953)私人收藏,後傳承至現藏家。赫頓出生於印度,曾於20世紀前半葉在天津及上海、以及日本於印度尼西亞生活過。
