Chinese ShiSou mark bronze censer. Chinese bronze covered censer, cast in a round globular form with tripod footings protrude from the bottom of the censer raised on three conical legs, two loop handles everted from the gathering lip. The dome bronze lid decorated with scrolling rococo and radiating toward the simply bud crystal finial. All reserved in ornamentations are rendered in bronze underglaze base color. The main body decorated with auspicious pattern reliefs ensconce the midsection of the surface simulating the Taotie mask of the seeing eyes rounded the exterior bronze censer. The metal patinated to a warm dark brown tone. The bronze is bright and lustrous as the light is easily reflected from the well-polished surfaces. The plaques split in the middle section, and fitted perfectly upon each other. There is a light grey patina noted in several creases. The design is well-proportioned, the bronze and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.
