An unglazed pottery figure of a prancing horse Tang dynasty (618-906) The compact steed finely rendered with arched neck and well-modelled head turned to the left and left foreleg raised, the surface with a fine painted slip worn and exposing the red clay body. 13in (33cm) high; 11 1/4in (28.6cm) long Provenance Provenance Archangel Gallery, Hong Kong, January 16, 2005 The dating of this lot is consistent with the results of a Thermoluminescence test, Sample No. C104y10, Oxford Authentication, 29 October 2004.
