Y A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS MOUNTED BREAKFRONT LIBRARY BOOKCASE ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS, CIRCA 1815 The lower panel cupboard doors each opening to four mahogany veneered drawers, the rear of the drawers inscribed in pencil in an early 19th century hand 275cm high, 263cm wide, 57cm deep Provenance: Christie's, London, Thomas Hope and the Neoclassical Vision and the Collector of Collections, 24th April 2008, Lot 188 (£31,700). Related bookcases were supplied by Gillows of Lancaster for the library at Tatton Park, near Knutsford, Cheshire. Many parallel can be drawn between the bookcase at Tatton Park and the example shown here, including the brass grille doors and the overall proportions and style.
