A CARVED WOOD & POLYCHROME PAINTED MODEL OF A WADING BIRD MID 19TH CENTURY The colour palette suggesting the bird is or is based upon a Heron 84cm high overall, the base approximately 23cm square Condition Report: Minor scuffing, scratches, cracks and wear overall consistent with age. Paint flaking and losses including to the base. The heron rotating where the leg meets the foot. Some losses including to the tips of the feathers, possibly some repairs, therefore some later paintwork. Beak repaired. Some sectional joins visible including to the neck ad down the back. Dowels, possibly later, at the top of the legs to fix the body. Some mottled rust to the metal foot. Evidence of old worm That said, the appearance overall much suits the piece.
