Painted circa 1910 Footnotes: Provenance With Rutland Gallery, London (as Sussex landscape) Mattei Radev, thence by descent to the present owner Private Collection, U.K. The absence of a studio stamp suggests that the present work was sold in the artist's lifetime. Gore's English landscapes are typically of Hertfordshire (around the family home and identifiable by distinctive features) and two counties which he painted regularly, Yorkshire and Somerset.
