Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A George IV silver cream jug by John Wakelin, London 1829, with a waved border and beaded S-scroll handle, the shoulders engraved with two coats of arms, the body fluted, on a shaped circular pedestal foot, 16.5cm (6 1/2in) high, 281g (9.05 oz) The unrecorded set of arms (dexter) that include a shield, crest and motto impaling the arms of the BIS(T)LEY or BECKLEY family (sinister). The BIS(T)LEY or BECKLEY family are likely to be of Devon. The arms, crest and motto used by the paternal family are unrecorded and as a result illegal. Clearly we have a case of self-promotion at a marriage to the daughter of an armiger.
