An early George III silver Warwick cruet stand by Alexander Johnston, London 1762, the shell centred handle with tongue-capped S-scrolls, five ring holders for the three casters, each engraved with two crests, and two glass bottles, engraved with an armorial to the asymmetric shield, on four outstanding dolphin scroll supports with pierced cast feet, 28cm (11in) high, 2149g (69 oz) weighable Provenance: Property of a Gentleman. These unconventional arms maybe of Welsh origin. The crest: a Cornish chough proper holding in its dexter claw a fleur de lis or (Williams). The distinctive crest is for the WIILLIAMS family of Frefoss, Anglesey.
