An Impressive Pair of Louis XVI Style Malachite and Gilt Bronze Urns 20th century Campana form, gilt bronze circular band to rim depicting rocaille, scrolls and bellflowers, two Bacchus mask handles mounted to the shoulder issuing floral swags, the body centered by medallions with maidens on each side, supported by socle with acanthus leaf design raised on square base. (H: 37 1/2, W: 28 in.) Provenance Collection of Robert & Barbara Safford, Vaux Hill, Audubon, Pennsylvania. Freeman’s, Philadelphia, September 25, 2013, lot 171. Acquired directly from the above sale. Private Collection, Long Island, New York. Condition report: Condition generally very good. The gilt work overall fresh, some signs of rubbing and wear. Occasional minor chip along edges. Fritting where pieces assemble together. Each urn assembles in approximately eight pieces.
