The globular exterior of the vase is finely decorated with four roundels of famille rose painted with a five-clawed dragon and a phoenix in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl', all amidst fire scrolls and ruyi-shaped clouds. Overall the body of the vase is decorated with a classic pattern of lotus lappets, elegantly splayed foot ring, and a register of lotus lappets around the mouth rim. The sloping neck is applied with a pair of moulded ring handles. Written on the underside base is an underglazed blue six-character mark in archaistic script. Height 53.5cm Diameter 39cm
