A late 18th century Iberian flat cut garnet and freshwater pearl brooch/pendant, c.1800, with three freshwater pearls and flat cut foil backed garnet clusters, in a 'V' shaped scrolling open petal frame. Two outer freshwater pearl and foiled flat cut garnet pendant drops, to a concealed bale and brooch fitting with 'C' catch. 52 x 49mm, 9.77g Condition report: One garnet deficient. Surface reaching inclusion. Minor marks to the table or crown facet edges under 10x magnification. Garnet on the bale probably a replacement. Central pendant drop deficient. Base metal replacement pin, hinge etc. soft solder present. Dirty. Scratches and marks consistent with age. The entire framework for the brooch fitting is probably later.
