Two 17th century Ottoman Empire Turkish polychrome pottery wares, comprising: a charger, 29.5cm diameter, and a further charger, 31.5cm diameter (2) (at fault) Provenance: The Estate of Lord Kenyon, Gredington The iron red ground charger shows an extensive repaired loss encompassing approximately a quarter of the rim circumference, one edge of which extends into a hairline crack across the base. The rim shows chips and nibbles throughout, with further scratching extending around the full width of the white rim. There is an area of loss to the iron red glaze approximately 1.5cm long. The pale ground charger shows a full diameter repaired break held with fabric support. The rim shows chips and nibbles throughout, and the top surface shows extensive wear and surface scratching throughout. Both chargers are fitted with old unsprung wire hangers. It is possible these are holding the pieces together.
