Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Spanish engraving, framed. Featuring portrait of a woman with her hands clasped in front of her chest. Label on verso reads "The Busshe Brass / commemorating Thomas Busshe (ob. 1526) and his wife. The detail of this fine brass repays a close study. Note the arms of the City of Calais in the canopy sandrels with horned sheep under the bushes - an obvious rebus. Also the merchant's mark below the two figures. The date of Thomas Busshe's death has never been engraved." 90 x 33 cm (35 x 13 inches). Frame size: 95 x 38 cm (37 x 15 inches).
