A good second half of the 19th century oak table clock with commemorative plaque the dial signed and numbered Dent, 33 Cockspur St, Charing Cross, London, 28409 the rectangular case with four glass panels on a moulded base, mounted with a presentation plaque PHILIP PLEYDELL BOUVERIE HIGH SHERIFF OF SOMERSETSHIRE 1878 / TO HIS CHAPLAIN REVD PHILIP DEEDES RECTOR OF NETHER BROUGHTON LEICESTERSHIRE, the 7' signed and numbered silvered Roman dial with blued-steel spade hands, the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a blued steel coiled gong mounted on a block stamped F.D with an adjustable pendulum and winding key, 35.5cms high Footnotes: Philip Pleydell Bouverie, of Brymore, Bridgwate (1821-1890), held the position of High Sheriff of Somerset in 1878; his father, also Philip, had previously held the position in 1843. The Reverend Philip Deedes (c. 1846-1934) was the Rector between 1875 and 1881 at Nether Broughton, Leicestershire.
