Eanger Irving Couse (1866-1936) Flute Player at Taos bears signature 'E.I. Couse' (lower left) oil on panel 12 x 9in framed 19 x 15 1/2in Painted circa 1912. Footnotes: Provenance Fenn Galleries, Santa Fe, New Mexico, no. PA-3320. Exhibited Salt Lake City, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West, February 15 – August 11, 2013. A written statement of authenticity by Kibbey Whitman Couse, son of the artist, is on the reverse. We wish to thank Virginia Couse Leavitt for her kind assistance in cataloguing this lot.
