Gordon Snidow (born 1936) The American Beauty signed with conjoined initials and dated 'gSnidow / © 2002' (lower right), titled by the artist oil on board 40 1/2 x 37 1/2in framed 51 x 48in Painted in 2002. Gordon Snidow grew up in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas, and attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles where he earned a BFA. Snidow was a charter member of the Cowboy Artists of America for 25 years, serving as President three times. Although no longer a member, at the time of his retirement from active membership to became a Member Emeritus, he was the CAA's top medal winner with 27 Gold and Silver Medals, and three for Best of Show. This painting, and These Colors Don't Fade or Run (lot 237), feature portraits of the artist's favorite model Carol in rustic barn settings.
