Eduard Stiegel (1818-1879), Hessian landscape painter, studied landscape painting with Friedrich Wilhelm Müller at the Kassel Academy, where he later taught as a professor himself. Stiegel painted with preference Hessian landscapes and vedute (including Fritzlar, Kassel and Marburg), but also from the Rhine and Thuringia in the late Romantic style. With these he participated several times in the Berlin art exhibition of the Academy (1852, 1869, 1870) and regularly in exhibitions of the ''Verein für Bildende Kunst'' in Kassel (1863-1875).
