Rudolf Jacobi (1889-1972), important artist of the lost generation, participated in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, the Secession and Academy Exhibitions in Berlin as early as 1911. In 1926 he went to Paris for two years, where he was inspired by the works of Maurice de Vlaminck. In 1928 he opened the painting school ''Annot'' in Berlin with his wife, who was also an artist, and became a member of the Berlin Secession. In the following years he had greater success until 1933, when the painting school had to close because they wanted to continue teaching Jewish students. The artist couple emigrated to the USA, where they founded an art school in New York that existed from 1934-1940, where Rudolf Belling also taught. He did not return to Germany until 1967.
