PROVENANCE: From St Matthew, Louisville, KY Private Collector. Measurements: Height: 42.8 cm, Diam.: 22 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & white Dragon motif Porcelain Plum Vase. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, large and tall, wide body on shoulder, short neck with narrow opening, slight flaring ring mouth rim, raised on round foot base, with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves. The glaze has smooth texture and moisturizing, glossy quality. Which attracting unceasingly admiration. The clouds and dragon patterns are vivid and have distinctive characteristics of the times. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
