|具轮珠之名，今已不知所从起。最早所见着录均为日本明治古籍，如明治七年刊行的《茗壶图录》。奥玄宝在《茗壶图录》中将具轮珠归为紫砂发展史上的另类，百多年前日本煎茶席上令京坂好事家“渴望心醉，一睹兹壶，津津流涎，争购竞求”的“奇品”，于大陆却几乎未见传器。由此可推测，具轮珠是专应日本煎茶道需求而度身定做的外销品种。
