ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCESCO CARNESECCHI, A BOOK OF 'GRAND TOUR' PLASTER INTAGLIOS DATED 1820 After sculptural models by Canova and Thorvaldsen, the plaster impronte with original list written in an old hand the box 33 x 21.5cm Provenance: The Simon Neal Collection These impressions of intaglios in a marbleised box, are after the most famous works by the great neoclassical sculptors Antonio Canova (1757 - 1822) Berthel Thorvaldsen (1770 - 1844). Another, almost identical, example by Carnesecchi is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (1992.405.1-.35), which forms the basis of this attribution.
