Liu Zongyuan (AD 773-AD 819), Zi Hou, Han nationality, from Hedong (now in Ruicheng and Yuncheng, Shanxi), one of the eight great masters of Tang and Song Dynasties, writer, philosopher, essayist and thinker in the Tang Dynasty. It is called "Liu Hedong" and "Mr. Hedong", because of the official history of Liuzhou, it is also called "Liu Liuzhou". Liu Zongyuan and Han Yu are collectively called "Han Liu", together with Liu Yuxi, "Liu Liu", and Wang Wei, Meng Haoran, and Wei Yingwu are collectively called "Wang Mengwei Liu".
