A Carved Wood Arm of Guanyin SONG DYNASTY (960-1279) 宋 彩繪木雕觀音殘臂 the straight arm elegantly carved and painted with traces of polychrome pigment, with soft contours accentuating a soft bend at the elbow, and draping folds of robes a the forearm. Long curling tendrils of hair creeping down the arm, a bangle at the wrist, and a bottle vase gently grasped to with slender fingers suggest the arm possibly from a 'Water Moon' Guanyin in a pose of royal ease; all mounted to a rectangular board. Height 36 x length 7 x width 4 1/2 in., 91.4 x 17.8 x 11.4 cm.
