HANDSCROLL PAINTING:VASES BY LANG SHINING W.570cm H.29cm Description: Lang Shining, formerly known as Giuseppe Gastiglione, was a native of Milan, Italy, under the saintly name of Joseph. He participated in the design of the Western-style building in Yuanmingyuan and was one of the top ten painters at the Qing court. He was good at painting horses, portraits, flowers and animals, and his style emphasized the fusion of Western painting techniques with traditional Chinese brush and ink, which was loved by the emperor and greatly influenced the court painting and aesthetic interests of the Qing Dynasty after Kangxi. This painting is stamped with the inscription: "Supreme Treasure of the Inner Court".
