来源：伦敦佳士得2012达摩又称普提达摩，传谓南朝梁时的高僧，天竺人，本名菩提多罗，于梁普通元年入华，武帝迎至金陵。后渡江往魏，止嵩山少林寺，面壁九年而化。达摩提倡断绝一切想念杂思以求悟得佛理，被奉为中国禅宗的初祖。该像便取材自达摩一苇渡江的故事。玉质洁白温润，留玉皮以为云海之色，正面达摩和尚踏浪乘风而行。达摩身着广袖长袍，衣褶自然流畅，下摆迎风而动，一手担杖，脚踩芦苇，漂浮于波糖汹涌的海面之。拍品原配木座，与拍品一样以波涛为主要纹饰，更显得达摩风灵洒脱。整器线条流畅，雕工细致，生动形象。
