A choice Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This superbly detailed sculpture is 3-1/2 inches high, is beautifully carved from stucco and depicts a member of the wealthy elite wearing a fancy headdress studded with a trio of large ornaments. His wavy coif falls along the sides of the head and is highlighted in black. Red paint remains in the headdress and facial features. In excellent condition, strong mineral deposits, mounted on stand.
