An English delft blue and white punch bowl, circa 1730, Bristol, painted with stylised flowers in fan-shaped panels divided by roundels reserved with three overlapping fish motifs, the blue ground reserved with scrolling foliage, 30.5cm diameter Note: The rare motif of overlapping fish is found on a salt in the Longridge Collection, see Leslie B. Grigsby, The Longridge collection of English slipware and delftware, 2000, Vol. II, p. 239, no. D214, where the author discusses similar ornament on a boss in Bristol Cathedral also used on a punch bowl dated 1724 in the Bristol Collection.
