A late 18th century Dutch silver salver, Amsterdam 1773 by Reynier Brandt (1702 - 1788) Of broadly square form with re-entrant corners, cavetto edge and a corded rim, raised on four open work pierced bracket feet. Fully marked to the reverse, date letter O. Length – 22.3 cm / 8.75 inches Weight – 424 grams / 113.63 ozt Reynier Brandt was born in Wezel, (Rijnland), Hervormd the son of Wilhelm and Anna Katharina Westerholt. He began silversmithing in 1734 and married Maria van Wierop in 1737 in Lauriergracht, Amsterdam. He is noted in his production of bread baskets, trays, sugar casters. The gold and silversmith Gerrard Boete is recorded as the witness at Brandt's wedding.
