A late 18th century German silver écuelle and cover Augsburg 1775-1777 by Christianus Drentwett II (1729-1801, master 1754) Of inverted baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, with cast and applied rocaille scroll handles. The pull off lid double domed lid surmounted by a detachable cast finial of a pomegranate. Gilt interior. Marked underneath with makers mark CD (Rosenberg 987), town mark and date letter X, and assay scrap, and to lid. Together with an associated écuelle stand, Augsburg 1773-75 by Carl Samuel Betkober (master c. 1762, d. 1787), of shaped circular form with moulded rim, marked underneath with makers mark CSB (Rosenberg 1004), town mark and date letter W, and assay scrape.
