Three George I Britannia standard silver tablespoons, London 1718 by Isaac Davenport (reg. April 1697) Hanoverian tablespoon, with rat tail heel. The terminal engraved with a contemporaneous impaled coat of arms in a widow’s lozenge all within baroque scroll mantling surmounted by a baron’s coronet. Fully marked. (3) Length – 19.2 cm / 7.775 inches Weight – 206 grams / 6.62 ozt The arms are for Gower quartering Leveson impaling Manners For Lady Catherine Leveson-Gower (1675–1722) Dowager Baroness Gower She married Sir John Leveson-Gower (1675-1709), who was elevated to the peerage, as Baron Gower of Stittenham, co. York, 16th March 1703. He married Lady Catherine Manners, daughter of John Manners, 1st Duke of Rutland (1638-1711). Their descendants were further elevated through the peerage whereby in 1833 they become the Dukes of Sutherland.
