A William IV sterling silver part-tea service, London 1835/36 by messrs Lias Comprising a teapot (1836) and a milk jug (1835), each of compressed circular form upon four palmette scroll bracket feet. The body with embossed decoration of floral sprays with a vacant double C scroll cartouche to each side. The curved spout with embossed decoration opposite an acanthus capped C scroll handled with ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets. A wavy rim with an incised edge, the hinged domed lid with embossed floral decoration, surmounted by a detachable cast floral finial with leafy calyx. Milk jug with gilt interior. Each fully marked underneath, lid and finial part-marked. (2) Teapot length – 28 cm / 11 inches Weight – 1032 grams / 33.18 ozt
