The depiction shows either emperor Qianlong as Lama or the Chankya Rinpoche (Tibetan ambassador at the Chinese imperial court, Mongolian title: hutuktu). Here maybe Chankya R?lp? Dorje (1717-86) sitting on a throne with three pillows, as typical for a high lama. On the back a Chinese inscription giving the name of a temple 'Xie Li Cheng Tan'. Picture size 27 x 21.5cm.
