HALF LENGTH PORTRAIT OF DARUMA.Japan. Edo period. Soga, Sh?haku (1730 - 1781) - Attributed.Washed ink on paper. 114.5x53.5cm. Typical zenga painting. The robe, which he holds infront of him with both hands, is depicted with a few expressive strokes of black ink. Buthis head, which is quite unusually depicted as pointed and his hair and beard in lightergrey ink and thinner lines. Only the sagging corners of his mouth are painted with blackink, too.
