A pair of Chinese porcelain cylindrical lidded ginger jars of the Great Helmsman design showing a scene of an ocean liner at sunset, with the inscription "Sailing the seas depends on a Helmsman, making revolution depends on Mao Zedong thought", a similar smaller scene on reverse, with inscription "Ride the waves and cleave the waves". Made in Jingdezhen, early 1970s. 27.5cm high PROVENANCE: Purchased at Bloomsbury Auctions, London, November 2009 "Mao and the arts of New China, including the collection of Peter and Susan Wain"
