Arne was born and raised in China of Norwegian-born American missionaries. Both worked for the Lutheran Church and Arne Sovik went on to become a pastor and missionary, both leaving China in 1947, for Tiawan, at the time of the Communist takeover. After Taiwan they moved to Hong Kong.
