A CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON 'FISH' BOWL TOGETHER WITH A VASE. Yuan, Ming Dynasty.The dish with a concave rim typically moulded to the centre with a pair of fish and decorated with an olive-green glaze, the ovoid vase freely incised with fruit and foliage and a band of vertical ribs to the waisted foot, all under thick celadon glaze, 20.5cm diameter. (2)Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020). Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects.
