A CHINESE INCISED CELADON 'DRAGONS' DISH.A CHINESE INCISED CELADON 'DRAGONS' DISH. Qing Dynasty, six character Kangxi mark and possibly of the period. The centre incised with two dragons among clouds and flames flanking the central shou character enclosed in a roundel, the exterior with a sinuous lotus stem with blossoms displaying the Eight Buddhist Symbols, the base with a mark in underglaze blue within a double band, 17cm diameter. Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020). Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects.
